First Galaxy S26 devices receive One UI 9 with Android 17. Czech Republic will have to wait for now

Samsung has started rolling out stable One UI 9 with Android 17 to the Galaxy S26 series. However, only a small group of owners are happy so far. According to Droid Life, the update is apparently only being received by Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra models locked to US carrier T-Mobile. Samsung announced about a week ago that One UI 9 was ready for global deployment.

For now, only for customers of one US carrier

Reddit users were the first to boast about the update, finding it on their Galaxy S26 Ultra devices. Droid Life clarifies that these are only versions sold by and locked to the T-Mobile network. Unlocked phones that merely run on the T-Mobile network are not seeing the update yet.

The Reddit discussion thread is full of owners of phones from Verizon, AT&T, and unlocked units, and none of them have received One UI 9 yet. Anyone who bought a Galaxy S26 in the USA without a carrier tie-in is waiting, just like European owners. The rollout is thus significantly slower than the global deployment announcement suggested.

A major update already familiar to foldable owners

One UI 9 is built on Android 17 and is a comprehensive update. Its content is expected to be very similar to the software that has been running on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra foldables for a few months now. Samsung also refined the system in beta for even longer. S26 owners are therefore not receiving software that is seeing the light of day for the first time.

The download is quite substantial, weighing in at around 4 GB. In addition to the new system version, the update also brings the Android security patch from September 5.

When will One UI 9 arrive in the Czech Republic?

For Czech Galaxy S26 owners, this means that One UI 9 has not arrived for them yet. When the update will reach the Czech Republic and the rest of Europe is not yet known. The situation is further complicated by speculation that the distribution has been postponed until early October.

Once the update expands beyond T-Mobile, you can manually check for it in Settings › Software update › Download and install. Due to its size of around 4 GB, we recommend downloading via Wi-Fi, not mobile data.
