The Fenix series is among the most feature-rich offerings from Garmin. This year, however, the launch of the new generation might look different than usual: the basic Fenix 9, the Pro variant, and the endurance model Enduro 4 are expected to be revealed all at once, most likely still this summer.

Will Garmin Fenix 9 arrive directly with a Pro version?

The website Garmin Rumors suggests that the manufacturer might break its own habit this year. Let’s add immediately that officially, not a word has been said yet – Garmin is still keeping details under wraps and will likely disclose more at the last minute.

The previous series had a slow start. The basic Fenix 8 was introduced at the end of August 2024, while the Pro version was awaited until September 2025. The ninth generation is said to place both variants side-by-side right from the start.

The difference between them is expected to remain the same as before. While the basic model will rely on classic navigation, the Pro version will offer an LTE modem and inReach satellite communication – meaning the ability to send a message even from areas without signal.

A new size should be introduced. The eighth-generation Pro version is only sold in 47 and 51 mm bodies, but the ninth generation is said to also include a 43 mm variant.

Will solar charging disappear from Fenix watches?

Here, the speculation is the boldest. Fenix 9 and its Pro version are said to rely exclusively on AMOLED displays, and the variant with an energy-efficient MiP panel and solar charging will be a thing of the past. For fans of multi-week battery life, this would be unpleasant news, as AMOLED consumes significantly more power – especially when lit at full brightness.

According to the same source, Enduro 4 should maintain its role as an endurance watch. It is expected to stick to a single size, MiP display, and solar cell. Garmin states up to 90 days in smartwatch mode for the previous Enduro 3, but this assumes a regular dose of direct sunlight. The Fenix 8 with AMOLED achieves 16 days in the same mode.

When could the new products arrive?

No one has specified a date yet, but estimates point to the end of this summer. There’s no talk about the prices of the ninth generation at all yet. The basic Fenix 8 with AMOLED and a 47 mm body can be purchased today on Alza for 17 690 Kč. It’s not expected that the new generation would start at a lower price.
