Google officially introduced Googlebooks. Android phone owners will love them, starting at 23 thousand

On Monday, Google officially introduced Googlebook – an entirely new category of laptops that combines Android with ChromeOS and is entirely centered around Gemini artificial intelligence. Pre-orders have already started in foreign markets, with the cheapest model starting at 899 dollars, which is approximately 23 thousand Czech crowns including VAT. The first wave includes pieces from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Android users are expected to love the Googlebook OS system

Googlebook builds on Android technologies and takes desktop foundations from ChromeOS. The system, long rumored as Aluminium OS, has thus officially arrived under the name Googlebook OS. Gemini plays the main role, around which Google built the entire platform.

The biggest attractions are aimed at Android phone owners. After logging into the laptop, settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages from the mobile phone will transfer, all encrypted. The Continue On feature allows you to seamlessly continue unfinished work from your phone, the Files app will show files from your mobile, and Cast My Apps can stream phone apps directly into a window on the desktop. It’s simply Google’s answer to connecting an iPhone with a Mac, which we already described at the end of August.

Three other key features then stem from Gemini. Magic Pointer summons artificial intelligence to whatever you’re pointing your cursor at, Rambler transforms spoken mumbling into neatly structured text, and Create My Widget generates a widget based on your description in your own words. The lid features a Glowbar light strip, which lights up on startup, shows battery status when you swipe over it, and reacts to Gemini.

Five Googlebooks from Five Manufacturers

Five flagship models joined the first wave. They all share a common foundation: at least 16 GB RAM, a touchscreen display, a backlit keyboard, a fingerprint reader, Glowbar, and an NPU with over 40 TOPS of performance. According to Google, all of them can manage over 14 hours of operation on a single charge.

The Acer Googlebook 14 is the cheapest and also the only convertible model – the display folds down into a tablet. It offers a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra (Panther Lake) processor, 16 GB RAM, and an aluminum and magnesium body. Prices start at 899 dollars (approximately 23 thousand Czech crowns including VAT).

The ASUS Googlebook 14 focuses on portability; weighing around one kilogram, it is the lightest model in the series. It adds a 14-inch OLED (3K, 500 nits) and a haptic touchpad. It will cost 1,299 dollars (approximately 33 thousand Czech crowns including VAT).

The Dell XPS Googlebook is the only one to bet on an Arm architecture chip, specifically the Snapdragon X Elite. It is also the most compact, with a 13-inch touchscreen display (2.5K), offering up to 32 GB RAM and face unlock. Prices start at 1,199 dollars (approximately 31 thousand Czech crowns including VAT).

The HP Googlebook 14 combines the Snapdragon X Elite with a 14-inch OLED (2.8K, 500 nits) and an all-aluminum body. It starts at 1,299 dollars (approximately 33 thousand Czech crowns including VAT).

The Lenovo Googlebook 15 targets multimedia: it has the largest display in the lineup, a 15.3-inch OLED (2.8K), and speakers with Dolby Atmos. It is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 and also features face unlock. It also starts at 1,299 dollars (approximately 33 thousand Czech crowns including VAT).

Not Heading to the Czech Republic Yet

With each Googlebook, Google will bundle twelve months of Google AI Pro service (5TB storage and Gemini Advanced tools), three months of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and one year of GeForce NOW. The company promises system updates for up to ten years.

Googlebooks will hit shelves on October 4th in the USA and a day later in Canada, Britain, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia. Information on availability in the Czech market is not yet available.
