GoPro MISSION 1 PRO arrived in Czechia. It can shoot 8K video and fits in your palm

GoPro has long been considered the king of action cameras, but not a player in the filmmaking league. That’s changing now. The latest model combines an unusually large sensor with a body that fits in your palm, aiming for the compact cinematic camera category. And you can buy it in Czechia.

GoPro MISSION 1 PRO relies on a large sensor and 8K

At the heart of the new product is a 50Mpx one-inch sensor – a much larger chip than action cameras are accustomed to. The manufacturer added a new GP3 processor made with 5nm technology. According to GoPro, the camera can shoot 8K video at 60 frames per second, and 4K at up to 240 frames per second.

Filmmakers will appreciate the Open Gate mode, which utilizes the entire sensor area, allowing the shot to be cropped to any aspect ratio later. For impressive slow-motion, the model offers up to 1080p at 960 frames per second, which corresponds to a thirty-two-fold slowdown.

Pro sound, battery life, and underwater durability

Sound is handled by four built-in microphones with 32-bit Float recording, which, according to the manufacturer, prevents clipping in loud scenes. The body remains true to the brand’s roots: it can withstand submersion up to 20 meters even without a protective case, and the buttons are raised to be pressed even with gloves.

GoPro promises a battery life of over five hours when recording in 1080p. However, this is an ideal laboratory value – when shooting in 8K, expect significantly shorter durations. Power is supplied by the Enduro 2 battery, and a 2.59″ OLED display on the back provides a preview, complemented by a smaller 1.4″ screen on the front for self-shots.

Three cameras instead of one

The flagship model is not alone in the new series. Alongside it is the cheaper basic MISSION 1, which lacks 8K recording in Open Gate mode, and the PRO ILS variant with a Micro Four Thirds mount for interchangeable lenses. However, the ILS version pays for the open mount with a loss of waterproofing and will not go on sale until the third quarter of 2026.

Price and availability

In the Czech market, the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO is sold for 17,490 CZK; you can buy it at Alza and other domestic retailers. The basic MISSION 1 starts lower, around 15,000 CZK.
