Leaked renders revealed the Insta360 X6. It will be more compact and shoot 8K at 50 fps, but it will be more expensive

If you like to record action in all directions at once, you should pay attention. Before Insta360 could officially announce anything, marketing images and the European price of the upcoming Insta360 X6 leaked to the public. According to them, the new 360° camera is expected to have a smaller body, add smoother 8K footage – and at the same time, significantly increase in price.

Surprisingly compact body

The images and the upcoming price were published on the German website WinFuture by the well-known leaker Roland Quandt, who has many years of experience in revealing unreleased products. At first glance, the shape is particularly striking. The camera body is expected to be significantly shorter and more compact than last year’s X5 – according to the leak, its dimensions are closer to a classic action camera than to the previous elongated 360° models.

However, the proven arrangement remains: the camera retains two sensors (one on the front and one on the back), which together compose the entire circular shot. The touchscreen display has undergone a change with newly rounded corners, on the sides you will find shutter and power buttons, microphone holes on four sides, and a tripod thread on the bottom – in other words, the equipment you expect from this class of cameras.

What will the new camera shoot?

The biggest draw lies in the video specifications. While the X5 can handle 8K resolution only at 30 frames per second, the Insta360 X6 is rumored to shoot 8K at 50 frames per second. In practice, this means smoother footage and, more importantly, room for slow-motion video – fifty frames allow for significantly more fluid slow motion than half that value. There are also mentions of 60 frames per second, but there are more questions than certainties here for now.

On the other hand, the leak silently omits a number of important parameters. We don’t know anything yet about sensor sizes, battery life, or water resistance – and until the camera is officially released, it’s wise to take even the more confident-sounding data with a grain of salt.

Expect a price increase

And now, what will be decisive for many people – money. For the basic package without accessories, according to the leak, you will pay an equivalent of approximately 17,000 Czech crowns (689 euros), while the so-called Essentials Bundle is expected to climb to about 19,500 Czech crowns (789 euros). Naturally, no one has confirmed official Czech prices yet.

That this is a price increase is also evident when compared to its predecessor: the X5 started at 589 euros last April and can now be purchased in Czech e-shops for approximately 11,000 Czech crowns. The new generation will thus demand significantly more, albeit for better footage and a smaller body.

The exact release date is not yet known. However, given that the camera has already appeared in the offering of one retailer, it probably won’t be long until its official premiere.
