Grok Bot Comes to Tesla Cars: Your Car Drives You to Work While You Handle Emails and Meetings with AI

Go through your mail on the way to work, verify that a new meeting doesn’t conflict with anything, and order coffee in the meantime – all without touching your phone. This is exactly what Tesla is now promising owners of its vehicles. On Tuesday, it officially released Grok Bot into them, an agentic extension of Musk’s Grok chatbot, which not only responds to commands but also directly handles tasks.

Handles Emails and Orders Coffee

The automaker announced the new feature on X, stating that Grok can now do “meaningful work” for you in the car. The function is based on two layers. Connectors link Grok to your accounts, such as Gmail or Google Calendar, allowing you to discuss mail, clear your calendar, or review in-progress files, conversations, and tasks by voice. Grok Bot itself can also handle multi-step tasks: ordering your favorite coffee, reserving a table, scheduling an appointment, or shopping online.

A Tesla video directly demonstrates how it looks in practice. The driver addresses the assistant with the phrase “Hey Grok” and asks it to check the inbox. Grok finds that one of the emails concerns a weekend reservation, checks the calendar, and reports that the trip does not conflict with anything. It then immediately records the accommodation details into the travel plan.

The first owners are already sharing their own experiences. One of them published a video showing Grok ordering an iced coffee at Starbucks for him on the way. According to the footage, the assistant directed the car to the branch, confirmed the drink and the amount on the card, and sent the order so it would be waiting for him upon arrival. Specialized shopping agents are reportedly able to complete an order from an Amazon cart with a saved payment card.

Tesla is primarily targeting Grok Bot for moments when the car is driven by the Full Self-Driving system. As we wrote, you can use its Supervised version on Czech roads starting Monday. However, it is still a Level 2 assistant, where the driver must monitor traffic and is fully responsible for driving.

It Won’t Be Free

Anyone can set up the connectors, but the full-fledged Grok Bot is currently reserved for subscribers of the SuperGrok Heavy plan, which costs approximately 6,400 CZK per month (300 dollars). Other plans are expected to follow later, according to Tesla. Despite this, there is interest in the agent: according to Bloomberg, Grok Bot surpassed 400,000 weekly users roughly a month after its launch, across all platforms, not just in cars.

Tesla expanded Grok itself across Europe this summer (it works in cars with an AMD Ryzen processor), but for Grok Bot, it has not yet specified which countries it is available in. In the future, the company is also planning to add text messaging – Grok can already make calls – and deeper integration of the assistant with FSD.
