We’ve waited quite a while for the new Redmi Watch 6 in Europe. Chinese Xiaomi introduced the new generation of popular affordable smartwatches on its domestic market last autumn, leading many brand enthusiasts to wonder when and in what form they would arrive here. A few days ago, we exclusively reported on the prices and variants for the Czech market, and now the watches are finally available from domestic retailers.

Price and variants: the watch costs under 3,000 CZK

The basic Redmi Watch 6 variant without NFC will cost 2,399 CZK in the Czech Republic. In this case, interested parties can choose from Moonlight Silver (silver with a grey strap), Glacier Blue (silver with a blue strap), and Elegant Black (black).

The NFC version is five hundred crowns more expensive, costing 2,899 CZK. For this version, interested parties will not yet find a blue variant, as it is only available in silver and black.

Given that the previous Redmi Watch 5 started at 2,599 CZK, the new generation offers a pleasant price reduction despite richer features. And when we consider the NFC version, which its predecessor never received in the European market, it’s an even better offer.

NFC for contactless payments finally available on Redmi

For many users, the addition of NFC will be by far the most important benefit of the new generation. The Redmi Watch 5 completely lacked this technology, and with its successor, for an additional 500 CZK, you finally get the option of contactless payments directly from your wrist. Xiaomi globally states support for Mastercard and Visa cards, but their availability varies by country.

The specific list of domestic banks with which Redmi Watch 6 will be compatible has not yet been provided by Xiaomi’s Czech representative. For an idea of what it might look like, one can refer to the Xiaomi Watch S4 41mm, which we tested in the editorial office. In the Czech Republic, these worked exclusively with cards from ČSOB and mBank, so cardholders from other banks had to rely on the Curve app.

Large AMOLED display with 2,000 nits brightness

The AMOLED panel operates at a resolution of 432 × 514 pixels with a density of 324 PPI and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The maximum brightness reaches 2,000 nits, which is sufficient for readability even in direct sunlight. Also new is the colorful Always-on Display, which runs at an energy-efficient 5 Hz and shows time and basic information without a significant impact on battery life.

Second button, aluminum frame, and slimmer body

The design has undergone several modifications that will be appreciated by users looking for solid craftsmanship at a reasonable price. The rotating crown with a red accent has moved to the upper part of the right side and is complemented by a new function button located below it. A single press opens the control center, a long press brings up the power-off menu, and a triple tap initiates a call to an emergency contact.

The watch frame is made of high-strength aluminum, which is said to be 40% stronger than its predecessor. Dimensions are 46.45 × 40.03 × 9.94 mm, and the weight without the strap is just 31 grams. The strap can be replaced with a single press of a button thanks to the quick-release system.

Up to 24 days battery life and smart features from HyperOS

The watch’s battery life is handled by a 550mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, it lasts 24 days in power-saving mode, 12 days with typical use with active health monitoring, and 7 days with the colorful AOD display turned on. These are values that even some much more expensive competitors cannot boast.

The Chinese version of the watch runs on the latest HyperOS 3 with deeper integration into the Xiaomi ecosystem. The Xiaomi Super Island feature displays interactive notifications and allows you to control your smart home directly from your wrist. We cannot yet confirm with certainty whether all these features will be available in the Czech version.

Sport, health, and 150+ sports modes

For active lifestyle enthusiasts, the Redmi Watch 6 offers dual L1 GNSS antennas that automatically switch based on wrist position for the most accurate location determination. GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS systems are supported. The watch features over 150 sports modes and automatically recognizes walking, running, and cycling.

Health monitoring includes 24-hour heart rate measurement, all-day blood oxygen tracking, sleep analysis, stress monitoring, and a women’s health mode. 5ATM certification ensures water resistance up to 50 meters, and thanks to improved sensors, the watch can measure heart rate even underwater while swimming.

Who are the Redmi Watch 6 suitable for?

At a price under 3,000 CZK, the Redmi Watch 6 offers an interesting combination, targeting users looking for affordable smartwatches with several premium bonuses. A large AMOLED display, NFC payments, long battery life, and comprehensive health monitoring will appeal to anyone looking for a watch for everyday use in the city and occasional sports activity tracking.

However, a few compromises need to be mentioned. The watch does not run on Wear OS, so the range of third-party applications will be significantly limited compared to more expensive competitors. More advanced health features like ECG or blood pressure measurement are also missing. If you are an avid athlete and need extremely accurate GPS or professional training analysis, you will likely opt for a Garmin or higher-end Amazfit model instead.

Would you get the Redmi Watch 6 NFC version for 2,899 CZK?
