Samsung targets cheap MacBooks. Galaxy Book 6 starts at 17 thousand

Samsung has expanded the Galaxy Book lineup with a model that, according to its words, is “a more affordable everyday computer.” The Galaxy Book 6, with its 14-inch display, directly targets cheaper MacBooks and starts at 799 dollars. It will be powered by Intel Wildcat Lake processors in two variants.

An Unmissable Twenty-Five Hours

Its main weapon is battery life. The 61.2 Wh battery is said by Samsung to last up to 25 hours, whereas the MacBook Neo boasts a maximum of sixteen. This is a significant difference, albeit with the usual caveat – it’s a manufacturer’s figure measured under ideal conditions.

Where Savings Were Made Is Obvious at First Glance

The display is its Achilles’ heel. A resolution of 1,920 × 1,200 pixels and brightness of 350 nits simply can’t compete with the MacBook Neo, which offers 2,408 × 1,506 pixels and 500 nits. For a laptop you’ll be using outdoors or by a window, this is noticeable. Moreover, the basic configuration includes only 8 GB of memory and a 256GB drive, so you’ll pay extra for a reasonable setup. Higher variants offer 16 GB and a terabyte.

Ports, on the other hand, are pleasing

Where the Galaxy Book 6 scores is its port selection. You’ll find two USB-C, one USB-A, HDMI, and a classic 3.5mm jack here – a setup that means you won’t need to carry adapters. In addition, it features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The body measures 15.7 mm and weighs 1.35 kg. Samsung states that the notebook will first appear in selected markets and availability will gradually expand – traditionally, it’s most likely that we won’t see it in our country again.
