Segway Navimow H5 Pro addresses the weaknesses of robotic lawnmowers. This is how it differs from common models

If you want to keep your garden beautifully mowed but don’t want to waste your own time on it, robotic lawnmowers are clever helpers. Their technology is constantly improving, and manufacturers are gradually succeeding in eliminating individual shortcomings that sometimes require us to lend a hand ourselves. At IFA 2026, Segway Navimow introduced the flagship model Navimow H5 Pro, which has matured beyond many of the ailments of older or less well-equipped robotic lawnmowers. Let’s take a closer look at how it can save time compared to “traditional” models and in what respects it is smarter.

Thanks to the extendable arm, you will no longer need a trimmer

Undoubtedly, one of the most practical features of the Segway Navimow H5 Pro lawnmower is the EdgeMaestro robotic arm. Classic robotic lawnmowers often have problems mowing grass edges near walls, flowerbeds, pools, curbs, or other obstacles, usually leaving a thin layer of unmowed grass. This then needs to be manually removed with a trimmer.

Segway Navimow H5 Pro presents itself as a machine that truly finishes the job. The EdgeMaestro arm can extend 7.7 cm to the sides, allowing the cutting disc to reach the very edge or corner without the need for additional attachments. Furthermore, a shield is placed around the disc itself, preventing grass from flying into the surroundings.

The brand also considered ensuring the arm fulfills its purpose even in challenging conditions. So, if you have a more uneven garden surface, you’ll appreciate that the arm can adapt to height irregularities. This allows the lawnmower to cut the grass evenly.

The lawnmower’s motor won’t stop even on a steeper hill

Cheaper robotic lawnmowers are usually only suitable for owners of flat or only slightly uneven terrains. However, thanks to its Xero-Turn all-wheel-drive motor, the Segway Navimow H5 Pro can climb steeper slopes, meaning you won’t have to mow them yourself. The manufacturer specifically states that the new model can handle slopes with an incline of up to 80% (i.e., 38.6°).

Slopes are one thing, but further complications can arise when the lawnmower encounters potholes, gravel, or other obstacles. The Segway Navimow H5 Pro can, in any case, overcome objects up to 6cm without slipping. An intelligent fall and impact detection system then protects the lawnmower from overturning upon contact with walls or curbs.

Last but not least, it’s worth highlighting another technology that prevents another common problem of less well-equipped models – rutting and lawn damage. Segway Navimow H5 Pro promises to avoid this thanks to its zero-radius turning function and “automotive” steering mode, which helps improve maneuverability.

Precise navigation that even trees won’t stop

A common weakness of cheaper robotic lawnmowers is also their impaired ability to navigate in gardens with many trees or near tall buildings. Segway Navimow H5 Pro strives to prevent any navigation outages, and thus, using artificial intelligence, it switches between LiDAR, a Vision module with a camera and a thermal infrared sensor, and network RTK (for which, by the way, you don’t need to install your own transmitter or mast on the roof of your house).

The lawnmower is more considerate of animals and its surroundings

The thermal infrared sensor, which I mentioned in the previous paragraph, has another use that pleasantly surprised us about the Navimow H5 Pro. The ability to detect obstacles and specifically identify them is now common to almost every better-equipped model, but a problem can arise when the lawnmower operates in poor lighting. Small animals, for example, can easily escape its notice, especially when hidden in the grass.

It is at this moment that the aforementioned sensor comes in handy, as it can detect whether, for example, a hedgehog curled into a ball is in its path. If the thermal sensor detects it, the lawnmower stops its cutting mechanism and avoids it. The system is advantageous because it works reliably even in complete darkness, where lawnmowers equipped only with a classic camera might not notice the animal.

During the development of this technology, Navimow partnered with the non-profit organization Igelhilfe Schulzendorf e.V., with whom tests were conducted, the results of which can be used for further functional improvements.

Last but not least, the promised quiet operation can be highlighted. Segway Navimow specifically states that the lawnmower achieves a noise level of only 58 dB(A) when mowing edges, so it can operate even at night without disturbing your neighbors.

Conclusion: Arriving on the market next year

The Navimow H5 Pro model clearly targets those who don’t want a half-hearted job from a robotic lawnmower. By solving edge cutting, offering top-tier terrain passability, and showing consideration for nocturnal fauna, it sets a new benchmark for what to expect from a lawnmower.

Specific information regarding price and availability is not yet known. We only know that the lawnmower should definitely be on sale next spring.
