For us, the main criterion is usually that it can communicate with a smartphone or offer similar connectivity options with other devices. The Braun NEVO shaver lacks this feature and does not connect to a phone at all, yet it is unexpectedly close to intelligent gadgets. It offers a beautifully crafted color display, its own processor, a charging case with a mini screen, and a station that cleans it itself after shaving. Until recently, you would have paid a fortune for such luxury, but now the Braun NEVO 17010c costs 9 999 Kč on Alza. At its launch, it sold for 17 999 Kč. CHCI BRAUN NEVO V AKCI Quick summary:✅ Makes sense if you shave daily and want a shaver whose maintenance you don’t have to worry about.⚠️ Consider that it doesn’t have an app or USB-C charging, and the station uses paid refills.💡 At 9 999 Kč, the shaver has been the cheapest since the end of August, when HlídačShopů started tracking its price. Display and processor make it an almost smart shaver The NEVO stands out most thanks to its color display in the handle, which Expert Reviews praises as clear and easy to read. According to Braun, it shows real-time information during shaving and the shaver’s status afterward, including alerts for when it’s time for cleaning or replacing the shaving head. The reviewer from Shavercheck specifies that it shows the battery in ten percent increments, so you know exactly how much is left. Otherwise, it’s more a set of understandable icons than a detailed guide – for example, the display doesn’t measure shaving duration. The second “smart” part is the NEVO processor. According to the manufacturer, it continuously evaluates beard density and adjusts power accordingly. However, this is not an entirely new feature – performance was similarly adjusted in the Series 9 PRO+ range, and Shavercheck did not notice an improvement compared to it. A bigger change is the AeroTouch foil, which, according to Braun, creates less friction than its other series. Together with 250 blades, it is designed to ensure a smooth shave, and the manufacturer states the shaver is dermatologically tested and suitable even for sensitive skin. However, the NEVO is not a truly smart device. It doesn’t have Bluetooth or an app, so you won’t see your shaving history on your phone. Braun can do this elsewhere – for example, the Braun Smart IPL epilator pairs with an app. But for a shaver, the display in your hand will probably serve you better than a graph on your phone. OBJEDNAT NA ALZE The station and case take care of cleaning and charging After shaving, you place the shaver into the NEVO Care 7-in-1 cleaning station, which, according to the manufacturer, cleans it, lubricates the blades, and charges it with a single press. Anyone who has ever rinsed a foil under the tap and then shaken hairs out of the sink will appreciate this every morning. Furthermore, the shaver’s body is made of a single piece of stainless steel and is waterproof, so you can shave with it in the shower. Braun offers a warranty of up to 5 years, but manufacturer conditions apply. The 17010c variant differs from the NEVO 15010c mainly by its PowerCase charging travel case. It works similarly to a wireless earbud case: the shaver travels in it and charges at the same time. Additionally, it has its own display, which, according to Braun, shows the charge status in percentages, so you know exactly how much power remains. Braun promises that with it, the battery life will increase by half, up to 6 weeks of regular shaving. The shaver itself lasts up to 60 minutes according to the manufacturer; the reviewer from the British website Expert Reviews measured 52 and 54 minutes. For a week in the mountains without a charger, that’s more than enough. What to expect: proprietary charger and paid refills Even at 9 999 Kč, the NEVO has a few weaknesses you should know about beforehand. The most visible is the missing USB-C – the shaver charges via its own Braun adapter, so you won’t be able to get by with your phone charger when traveling. The cleaning station, in turn, consumes refills – one is included in the package, others are purchased separately – and the manufacturer recommends changing the shaving head approximately every 18 months. Thus, expenses don’t end with the purchase price. Expert Reviews further points out that the cleaning cycle takes 10 to 15 minutes and is not quiet. Shavercheck then criticizes the built-in trimmer: it’s sufficient for sideburns, but it cannot compare to the precision of specialized trimmers. If you wear a carefully shaped full beard, the NEVO will not replace a separate trimmer for you. Who the NEVO is worth it for at 9 999 Kč The shaver makes the most sense for people who shave daily or every other day and want a smooth result without worrying about maintenance. This typically includes men who primarily seek comfort from a shaver and don’t mind paying extra for it, or those who travel frequently and will appreciate a case that also charges. It will also be suitable as a gift – especially with Christmas approaching and such a high discount. Conversely, those who wear stubble or longer beards, or don’t want to deal with refills for the station, will likely opt for a simpler and cheaper model. For everyone who has been eyeing a top-of-the-line shaver but was deterred by the price, now is the best time since its launch – it hasn’t been cheaper on Alza. You can now get the Braun NEVO 17010c for 9 999 Kč. CHCI VYUŽÍT SLEVU Would you pay ten thousand crowns for a shaver with a display?
