Logitech has introduced the successor to one of its most popular gaming mice. The G305 X SUPERLIGHT adopts technology from the more expensive Pro series, sheds almost 40 percent of its weight, and yet remains affordable. It is already in stock at the manufacturer’s e-shop.

End of AA battery: the new model is lighter and has USB-C

The biggest change is hidden inside. The original G305 relied on a single AA battery, which kept the mouse cheap but also made it quite heavy – weighing around 99 grams. The successor has a built-in battery and charges via USB-C, which has reduced the weight to under 60 grams (Logitech itself states approximately 59 g). This is a difference you will feel in your wrist during longer gaming sessions.

Logitech also mentions that the mouse body is made of more than half recycled plastic, and the screws have been left exposed so that the user can disassemble and repair the device themselves if needed.

HERO 44K Sensor and Three Connection Methods

The second major new feature is the optical sensor. The brand has implemented the HERO 44K sensor with a sensitivity of up to 44,000 DPI, a significantly more precise chip than the original model offered. According to Logitech, it can track movement at speeds up to 678 IPS, so even rapid flicks across the entire mousepad shouldn’t disrupt it.

Connectivity is now threefold: wireless LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth, and a classic cable. The older G305 only supported LIGHTSPEED, making the new model significantly more versatile. For those who want the maximum, an optional receiver can be purchased to enable up to 8,000 Hz polling for lower latency. The mouse features six programmable buttons.
