Xiaomi recently launched the 17T series, which brought the prices of last year’s generation down even further. You can now get the Xiaomi 15T with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 8,743 CZK instead of 12,499 CZK from last September. It boasts a powerful chipset and Leica cameras.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want a large AMOLED display, Leica camera, and long battery life at a great price.
⚠️ Consider if you often shoot with high zoom – the periscopic telephoto lens is only on the newer 17T, not the 15T.
💡 For 8,743 CZK you get a phone that is about 4,250 CZK cheaper than the new successor and offers a very similar experience in everyday use.

Why the 15T is interesting

Xiaomi’s T series has long focused on price/performance ratio and partnership with Leica. The 15T offers a large 6.83″ display, capable chipset, and a large battery, and reviewers have called it one of the best-balanced phones in its class. The main attraction is the camera with Leica Summilux optics, which performs very well in both normal and low light conditions. When the price dropped to 8,743 CZK, the 15T moves into a category where it’s difficult to compete with its features.

Key parameters explained simply

The display is a 6.83″ AMOLED with 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits, making it easily readable even in sunlight, complemented by Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra processor with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.1 storage – ample power for everyday use, multitasking, and gaming. The camera setup consists of a 50Mpx Light Fusion 800 main sensor with OIS, complemented by a 50Mpx telephoto lens (2× zoom) and a 12Mpx ultrawide lens, with a 32Mpx selfie camera on the front.

Battery life is provided by a 5,500 mAh battery with 67W charging, and the phone also offers IP68 rating, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E, and NFC. System-wise, it runs on the HyperOS overlay with AI features and integrated Google Gemini.

Xiaomi 15T for 8,743 CZK, or the new 17T for 12,999 CZK?

This is the most common question now. The newly launched Xiaomi 17T starts at 12,999 CZK and brings three main changes compared to the 15T: a 5× periscopic Leica telephoto lens (115mm) even in the base model, a newer Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, and a larger 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Additionally, it’s more compact (6.59″ display) and runs directly on HyperOS 3.

The new 17T for 12,999 CZK makes sense if you frequently use zoom photography and want a true periscopic telephoto lens, prefer a smaller body for one-handed use, or simply want the latest model with the longest update perspective. The Xiaomi 15T for 8,743 CZK, on the other hand, is sufficient for most people who want a large display, an excellent main Leica camera, and a large battery – and don’t want to pay an extra approximately 4,250 CZK primarily for higher zoom. In everyday use, the difference between the two phones will be smaller than you might expect based on the price tag.

Verdict: who it’s worth it for

If you are looking for a phone with a large AMOLED display, a quality Leica camera, and long battery life and don’t need the highest zoom, the Xiaomi 15T for 8,743 CZK is one of the best value choices on the market – compared to its launch price of 12,499 CZK and against the new 17T price. Conversely, if you are a photographer and want a periscopic 5× telephoto lens, a more compact body, or the latest model, it’s worth paying extra for the 17T. For most users, however, the 15T at this price offers an excellent price/feature ratio without feeling like a compromise.

Would you rather go for the cheaper 15T, or pay extra for the periscopic telephoto lens of the new 17T?
