An inkjet printer that refuses to print after a month of sitting in a corner due to dried-up printheads is probably familiar to anyone who prints only occasionally. A laser printer doesn’t suffer from this; the toner doesn’t dry out. The Brother DCP-L2600D can also copy and scan in addition to printing, and Alza has now discounted it to CZK 2,199 as part of Black Friday, a 29% reduction. Plus, you can extend the warranty to three years after registration.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense if you print black and white documents from a Windows computer at home or in a small office.
⚠️ Consider that it doesn’t have Wi-Fi or a network port and is not officially compatible with Mac.
💡 At CZK 2,199, it’s CZK 900 cheaper than it has been since early August.

Prints 34 pages per minute and automatically flips paper

The DCP-L2600D is a monochrome A4 laser printer with a built-in scanner. The manufacturer states a speed of up to 34 pages per minute, with the first page expected to print in less than 8.5 seconds. The print resolution is up to 1,200 × 1,200 dpi, which is more than sufficient for sharp text and tables.

Automatic duplex printing is handy. The printer flips the paper itself and can handle up to 16 pages per minute, but only for A4 format. The tray holds 250 sheets, so you don’t have to refill paper before every batch of school assignments or invoices. The scanner with a resolution of up to 1,200 dpi is flatbed, it does not have an automatic document feeder. Thus, you will scan a multi-page contract sheet by sheet, and the scan goes to the connected computer. You can, however, copy directly on the printer without needing the computer to be turned on.

According to Alza, the box contains a starter toner for approximately 700 pages. Replacement cartridges last up to 3,000 pages, and the drum unit, which is changed separately, lasts up to 15,000 pages. Anyone who prints a few dozen pages a month will only rarely need a new toner.

No go without a cable, and Mac is not officially supported

The printer has only one interface, USB. It does not offer Wi-Fi or a network port, so you must have it connected via cable to one computer, and don’t expect wireless printing from a mobile phone. Those who want to print from a phone or multiple devices around the house must opt for siblings with DW in their name, which have Wi-Fi.

The second catch is the system. Brother’s support lists only Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux as supported. Older Windows 7 or 8, or macOS, are not on the list. Several customers in Alza reviews write that the printer did not work with Mac or only worked with limitations, for example, only for PDFs and images via an application. One person managed to get it working only with a driver for an older model. If you have a MacBook at home, you should look elsewhere.

And finally, a small detail that can spoil the first evening: the USB cable is not included in the package. Several buyers complain about this, so add it to your cart right away if you don’t have one at home.

Buyers praise speed, but noise and controls are worse

In written reviews, print speed and good value for money are most frequently mentioned. Several people appreciate that it prints immediately after connecting to a Windows computer, and they also highlight that laser toner does not dry out like ink. One customer confirms trouble-free operation on Linux as well.

Complaints mainly concern noise. Brother states 49 dB during printing, 44 dB in silent mode, which, according to reviews, you can turn on. Some people also find the controls via the small two-line display confusing, and some are annoyed that the driver has duplex printing set as default.

Who is the Brother DCP-L2600D for at CZK 2,199

Households and small offices that primarily print black and white documents from a single Windows computer will benefit most from the discount. This typically includes parents printing assignments and worksheets for children, students with scripts, or freelancers who occasionally print invoices and scan individual documents. Thanks to the toner that doesn’t dry out, it will also serve well for those who print only a few times a month.

Anyone who has a Mac at home, wants to print color photos, or send documents from a mobile phone via Wi-Fi will not be satisfied with this printer. However, for others, at CZK 2,199, it offers printing, copying, and scanning in one device and has not been cheaper in the last year.

Are you still printing at home with an inkjet, or have you already switched to laser?
