Are you building a powerful PC mainly for work and creative tasks? The Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus now costs 7,599 CZK with code ALZADNY5 instead of 8,299 CZK. And there’s an interesting story behind it that makes it worthwhile.

Quick summary:
Makes sense if you want high-end performance for work, creative, and professional workloads at a reasonable price.
⚠️ Consider that for pure gaming, AMD’s X3D processors are better, power consumption is high (250 W), and no cooler is included in the package.
💡 For 7,599 CZK with code ALZADNY5 you essentially get a rebranded Core Ultra 9 285K, which otherwise costs around 14,000 CZK.

Essentially Core Ultra 9 285K for less

This is the main point highlighted by reviews. Intel canceled the top 290K Plus model, so the 270K Plus is essentially the same top-tier chip but with a ~200 MHz lower turbo boost – thus, the performance is practically identical to the more expensive Core Ultra 9 285K, but it’s sold cheaper under the “7” designation. In professional and application workloads, its performance is close to the Ryzen 9 9950X, making it an excellent price/performance ratio for video editing, 3D, compilation, and creative work. Owners confirm its swift and stable operation, and it’s surprisingly power-efficient in normal use and even in games (where it doesn’t run at full capacity).

Things to consider

Let’s be fair. If you mainly game on your PC, gaming processors AMD with 3D V-Cache (e.g., Ryzen 7 9800X3D) are a better choice. This Intel is more for “work with some gaming.” Also, expect high power consumption: at full load, it draws 250 W (roughly 50 W more than the 9950X), so it needs proper cooling – a 240mm AIO can handle it, an air cooler is borderline, and none is included in the package. For overclocking, a Z890 motherboard is required. And two practical notes from owners: the PPP utility only works on Windows 11, and caution is advised with open-box units – one user encountered a weaker integrated memory controller (IMC) that couldn’t maintain the highest RAM frequencies. It’s better to buy sealed units.

For a powerful workstation and creative PC, it’s a really good buy at 7,599 CZK – high-end performance at a mid-range price. Those building a purely gaming machine should look to AMD’s X3D.

Are you building a PC more for work or for gaming?
