An affordable tablet for movies, learning, or children’s fairy tales doesn’t have to cost a fortune, as demonstrated last summer by the Redmi Pad 2 with a Czech price starting from 4,499 CZK. Its successor is already preparing for its debut. According to Android Treasure and Notebookcheck, the Redmi Pad 3 has appeared in the databases of several certification authorities, and they suggest that the main improvement will be a larger battery, and thus longer endurance.

Battery to grow from 9,000 to approximately 10,000 mAh

The Taiwanese NCC authority has registered a battery with the designation BN90 for the tablet, and Android Treasure found it in the TÜV Rheinland company database. Its rated capacity is 9,820 mAh, which would correspond in practice to a typical capacity of 10,000 mAh. The Redmi Pad 2, meanwhile, relies on 9,000 mAh.

Regarding charging, it’s not clear yet. The records show a 15W adapter, but the certification also mentions a 33W charger, which is not expected to be included in the package. Thus, the tablet could charge faster with a suitable adapter, but this is not confirmed. For comparison: Redmi Pad 2 handles 18 W.

Up to 8 GB RAM and resistance to dust and splashes

According to NCC certification, the tablet will arrive in three memory versions: 4/128 GB, 6/128 GB, and 8/256 GB. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card by up to 2 TB. The basic version might already be insufficient for multitasking, but for simply watching multimedia or browsing online, it could be ideal if you want to save money.

The Thai NBTC authority registers the model with the designation 26104RPF2G directly as Redmi Pad 3 4G, so it will offer a SIM card slot with VoLTE support. Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi are present, but according to records, the tablet does not support the Wi-Fi 6E standard. The certification also states an IP52 rating, which will protect against dust and water splashes. However, it will not withstand submersion in water.

Display, chip, and price are not yet known

The certifications do not reveal the display diagonal, processor, or cameras. Furthermore, the authority in the United Arab Emirates registers model 2610FRP38G, which, according to Android Treasure, could be a 5G version. Records in databases of multiple countries usually mean that the unveiling is not far off. However, Xiaomi has not yet announced the date or price.

For reference: The Redmi Pad 2 offers an 11″ display with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz, powered by a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra chip. Those who don’t want to wait can get the LTE version with 4/128 GB on Alza at the time of writing for 4,990 CZK; the Wi-Fi-only variant will be cheaper. Given how significantly affordable devices have become more expensive in recent months, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new generation started at six thousand Czech crowns.

Will you wait for the Redmi Pad 3, or is the second generation perfectly sufficient for you?
