It was supposed to disappear, but it's still on sale. You can still buy the IKEA TRETAKT smart plug for 129 CZK

We already highlighted the IKEA TRETAKT smart plug at the beginning of summer, stating that it probably wouldn’t last long on sale and would soon disappear from shelves. However, a few months have passed since then, and it’s still available for 129 crowns. So, if you missed the offer and a cheap smart plug would be useful in your home, you can still buy it at a reduced price.

A Sale That Never Ends

Already in June, the product displayed the warning “last chance to buy,” and everything indicated it would disappear within a few weeks. Surprisingly, that didn’t happen. During today’s check of the e-shop, the plug still costs 129 crowns, and the same warning is still hanging there. Compared to the original 199 crowns, you save 70 crowns, which is roughly a third of the price.

What the IKEA TRETAKT Smart Plug Can Do

Princip zůstává stejný jako u každé chytré zásuvky. Zapojíte ji do sítě, do ní zastrčíte spotřebič – lampu, ventilátor, kávovar nebo třeba nabíječku – a od té chvíle ho zapínáte a vypínáte na dálku, klidně z gauče nebo cestou z práce. Ovládání zvládne mobilní aplikace IKEA Home smart, fyzické tlačítko na těle, bezdrátový ovladač i pohybový senzor; s jedním ovladačem/senzorem výrobce dovolí spárovat až deset zásuvek. Maximální zatížení udává IKEA na 3 680 W, takže si poradí i s výkonnějšími přístroji.

Keep in mind that full functionality – timers, remote control from anywhere, and voice assistants like Google Home, Apple Home, and Alexa – is only unlocked by a smart hub. The DIRIGERA model, which IKEA currently offers, costs 1,990 CZK. However, the plug can also be connected to the older TRÅDFRI gateway.

IKEA is Transitioning to Matter

The price reduction has its logic. IKEA is gradually abandoning the older Zigbee wireless standard and building its smart home on the more modern Matter (specifically via Thread). The newer GRILLPLATS smart plug, which you can buy for 199 CZK, uses this protocol. It is precisely the support for this open smart home standard that allows for easier integration of the plug into existing systems.
