Laptops with Snapdragon chips primarily promised one thing: endurance you haven’t seen from Windows. You can now buy the Acer Aspire 16 AI for 12,790 CZK instead of 18,990 CZK, making it one of the cheapest ways to try out this platform. And most importantly: it has 16 GB of memory, which is a crucial argument at a time when RAM prices are soaring and manufacturers are returning to eight gigabytes.

🤔 Hesitate if you use specific software – Windows on ARM still won’t run everything, and you won’t be gaming on it.

Endurance, the reason people buy Snapdragons

The main advantage of ARM chips is efficiency. International reviewers report over 20 hours of actual operation for the Aspire 16 AI during normal use (Acer states up to 28 hours of video playback), and because the chip generates minimal heat, the laptop remains cool and the fan is practically inaudible. Furthermore, PCWorld found that even this entry-level Snapdragon X performed better in Cinebench tests than several more expensive competitors and even beat the Dell 16 Plus with Intel – so the performance is definitely sufficient for everyday work.

The display is a pleasant surprise: 16″ IPS with 1920 × 1200 resolution, a matte finish, 120 Hz, and 100% sRGB coverage. The connectivity is above standard for this price – two USB4 ports, two USB-A, HDMI, and a microSD slot, so you can do without adapters. It also features Wi-Fi 7, facial login via Windows Hello, and an NPU with 45 TOPS performance, which meets the requirements for Copilot+ features like Windows Studio Effects. The body is metal, 15.9 mm thin, and weighs 1.7 kg.

The Catch: Windows on ARM

Here, we need to be honest. Laptops with Snapdragon run on ARM architecture, not classic x86, so some programs either don’t work at all or run slower via emulation. Office suites, browsers, communication applications, and most common software are already optimized today, but for specialized tools, older programs, or VPN clients, it’s worth checking. Reviewers summarize it similarly: excellent for mainstream work, a risk for non-standard software.

The second limitation is graphics. The entry-level Snapdragon X version has an integrated Adreno with performance around 1.7 TFLOPS, roughly a third of what the top Elite version offers – PCWorld directly called it the “bare minimum” in graphics tests. This laptop is not for gaming and won’t be, although cloud gaming via Game Pass or GeForce Now works without issues. However, if you’re looking for a large, quiet laptop for work and school, for under thirteen thousand, you’ll get a combination that x86 competitors at this price won’t offer.
