Lidl has discounted its 10,000mAh power bank to under 250 CZK! Why (not) buy it?

A power bank has long ceased to be just an emergency accessory for travelers; it’s practically essential equipment for anyone who uses a smartphone intensively throughout the day. The price level of quality models with a capacity of 10,000 mAh in Czech e-shops usually ranges between 300 and 700 CZK, depending on the features, and when a seller offers a model for less than 250 CZK, it’s worth paying attention. This is exactly what Lidl is doing now with its own brand TRONIC power bank.

23% Discount and a Price that Makes Sense

The TRONIC power bank with a capacity of 10,000 mAh appeared in Lidl’s online catalog as a so-called “Mega Bargain,” and its price dropped from the original 299.90 CZK to 229.90 CZK. The discount is therefore 23%, and the customer saves seventy crowns. That in itself doesn’t sound like a staggering difference, but in the context of the competition, it’s a very solid offer.

Lidl offers the power bank in both black and white color variants, with both units currently in stock online with delivery by Tuesday, May 5th. It will be available in stores from May 6th to 10th.

Three Ports, Two Charging Technologies

In terms of features, the TRONIC model offers what you expect from a power bank in this category. Available are two USB-A ports with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and one USB-C with Power Delivery 3.0 support. Both standards can output up to 12 V at 1.5 A, i.e., a maximum of 18 W per port. The power bank can charge up to three devices simultaneously, but with an important note: when all three ports are used simultaneously, the total output power drops to 15 W, which is then distributed among the connected devices.

The battery status is shown by an LED indicator, in the package, you will find a short 15cm USB-A to USB-C cable, and the power bank has integrated protection against overheating and short circuits. The weight is approximately 239 grams, which corresponds to the category average.

Where TRONIC Makes Compromises

Before you decide to click buy, it’s good to know where the power bank has its limits. The first is the charging time of the power bank itself, which is 6.5 hours. That’s a very long time in 2026 – competing models of similar capacity can recharge in 2 to 3 hours. Another compromise is the already mentioned output power, which will not be sufficient for fast charging flagship smartphones or laptops.

The power bank also lacks a classic display with a percentage status indicator, which is becoming standard on more expensive models. If you need to charge a MacBook or another laptop with higher power consumption, 18 W on the USB-C port is enough for an emergency charge, but it won’t be convenient.

For Whom Does the Purchase Make Sense?

TRONIC is a typical example of a “good enough” power bank for reasonable money. Don’t expect top-notch features, but what a regular user needs – charge a phone on the go, revive a tablet, or power up headphones. For these scenarios, it offers sufficient capacity, two modern fast-charging standards, and a three-year warranty, which is standard at Lidl across all electronics.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a power bank for a mobile phone with faster charging support or a laptop, you should rather pay extra for a model with higher power output on the USB-C port (at least 65 W) and a shorter self-charging time. For 229.90 CZK, however, TRONIC simply represents one of the most affordable ways to get a decent power bank, without having to weigh whether such an investment will pay off.
