Redmi Note 17 Pro Max could arrive in Europe with an absolutely gigantic battery

Earlier this month, we informed you about the first speculations regarding the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro Max model, for which leaker Digital Chat Station hinted at a 7-inch display and a battery with a capacity of around 10,000 mAh. At the time, the question remained open as to whether such generous specifications would also make it to Europe – as Xiaomi often cuts specifications for the global market on Chinese models for various reasons. However, new findings directly from the HyperOS system code bring an answer that few would have expected.

HyperOS Code Revealed the Unexpected

Well-known leakers Kacper Skrzypek and PaperKing13 discovered a device with the codename Q16U in the HyperOS system code, which, according to earlier leaks, corresponds to the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max model. Interestingly, two different battery configurations appeared. The Chinese version is indeed expected to offer 10,100 mAh, while the global variant will reportedly deliver 9,210 mAh. In both cases, the phone will support 100W wired charging, so battery life should not conflict with charging speed. Although a drop of nearly a thousand mAh for the European version sounds like an unwelcome compromise, in practice, it is still a value that is hard to find on the market.

A Huge Leap Compared to its Predecessor

To understand the significant breakthrough the upcoming model represents, one only needs to look at the existing Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus. Its battery offers a capacity of 6,500 mAh, meaning the global Redmi Note 17 Pro Max would improve by approximately 42% compared to its predecessor.

The specific launch date for the series is not yet known. However, based on earlier speculations, the Redmi Note 17 family is expected to be unveiled for the first time in the third quarter of this year, exclusively in China. Global versions could then arrive again at the beginning of next year.
