Samsung's new smart tracker leaks. Galaxy SmartTag 3 has undergone a major design transformation

Samsung is preparing the third generation of its localization tag, and its appearance has now been revealed by leaked official renders. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 abandons the elongated pebble shape and transforms into a compact, rounded square – and for the first time, we also know how much it will cost in Europe. In conversion, one piece is expected to cost approximately one thousand crowns.

What will the Galaxy SmartTag 3 look like?

Přední straně dominuje stříbrná plocha s nápadným logem výrobce, záda mají být celá z plastu a kromě povinného značení na nich najdete i malý otvor pro výměnu knoflíkové baterie. Rendery zároveň naznačují, že se přívěsek objeví ve dvou barvách, černé a bílé. Uprostřed čelní strany je navíc patrná vystouplá kovová plocha, kterou starší ilustrace jen naznačovala.

No more keychain hole

Unlike its predecessor, Samsung has apparently omitted the built-in hole for a keychain, carabiner, or strap in the third generation. Instead, it seems to have opted for a separate case with an integrated carabiner, similar to the approach Apple took with the AirTag. The manufacturer is also expected to offer bumper, silicone, and leather cases for the tag, and in collaboration with partners like Spigen, it is reportedly preparing a collar holder for dogs and other pets.

What did the FCC documents reveal?

More detailed technical specifications are still missing, but the filing with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides some clarity. According to it, the Bluetooth LE antenna measures less than three centimeters, so the tag itself will be approximately 30 × 30 millimeters and thinner than a centimeter. The FCC documents also confirm that SmartTag 3 will offer not only Bluetooth but also ultra-wideband UWB for precise short-range measurement – meaning arrow guidance directly to the lost item.

It won’t only compete with AirTag

The Galaxy SmartTag 3 will enter the growing competition of Bluetooth and UWB trackers, which are benefiting from the gradual expansion of Google’s Find My Device network. The biggest rival remains the Apple AirTag, but Google has already introduced its own tracker under the name Pixel Tag. Brands like Motorola and Xiaomi have also previously released their own models.

How much will the Galaxy SmartTag 3 cost?

The official Czech price is not yet known, but foreign figures can provide a hint. In Germany, one SmartTag 3 is expected to cost approximately one thousand crowns (39.99 euros) in conversion, and a four-pack around 2,300 crowns (about 93 euros). Sales are expected in early October, so we probably won’t have to wait long for the official announcement, including the Czech price.
