Three Xiaomi phones are getting Android 17! You can download it now, but we'd rather wait Home News Xiaomi has launched the Android 17 Developer Preview program, currently for three selected models Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, and 15T Pro are supported, with more devices to follow later The new version will also reveal the HyperOS 3.3 overlay – version 3.2 is skipped for some reason Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 1. 5. 2026 02:30 Advertisement Xiaomi has opened its Android 17 Developer Preview program, allowing app developers to get an early look at the upcoming system version and test their applications in the new environment. Interested parties can download the corresponding ROM from the manufacturer’s website, but support is currently limited to just three phones. Three Chosen Models HyperOS 3.3? And where did 3.2 go? Three Chosen Models Currently, owners of Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi 15T Pro phones can install the Android 17 Developer Preview. The selection is predictable – these are currently the best-equipped models in the portfolio, which the manufacturer logically targets first for major system updates. Broader support for other devices is expected in the future, but Xiaomi has not yet shared a specific timeline. It’s important to temper any potential enthusiasm here. The Developer Preview is not a stable version for everyday use – it’s intended for developers and tech enthusiasts who can live with app crashes, non-functional banking apps, or half battery life. If your Xiaomi is your main phone, wait for the stable release. HyperOS 3.3? And where did 3.2 go? More interesting than the Developer Preview itself is the shift in the overlay’s numbering. Xiaomi is not pairing Android 17 with HyperOS 4, as would logically be expected, but with HyperOS 3.3. What’s more – version HyperOS 3.2 doesn’t appear in the plan at all. It jumps directly from 3.1 to 3.3, without the manufacturer providing any explanation. There could be several reasons. Either Xiaomi is saving the main redesign for HyperOS 4, which it intends to release with one of the next generations of phones, or there was an internal change of plan and developers simply skipped version 3.2. The first Developer Preview already shows the basics of the new HyperOS design, but we’ll get a more complete picture with more advanced builds. For regular users, this practically means one thing: the stable public version of HyperOS 3.3 with Android 17 will arrive sometime in the coming months, gradually for older models as well. When support will extend to Czech owners of Xiaomi phones depends on the manufacturer’s usual strategy – first the Chinese market, then the global version.
