When Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi A27U 2027 monitor in September, the focus was mainly on the 120 Hz version in pre-sale. Now, the series has actually gone on sale in China and has expanded to three models. All feature a 27-inch IPS panel with 4K resolution, 400 nits brightness, and 98% DCI-P3 coverage. They differ in connectivity, refresh rate, and price, with the cheapest unit dropping to approximately under 4,000 CZK.

The conversion is approximate, based on the Czech National Bank exchange rate from October 22 (3.244 CZK per yuan). Furthermore, Chinese prices do not include Czech VAT or import costs, so the European price would be higher.

With USB-C, or Without?

The cheapest model saves costs by omitting USB-C. This is not an issue for a desktop computer, but for a laptop, the middle version makes more sense: it transmits both video and data with a single cable and simultaneously charges the connected laptop with up to 90 W of power. The top model adds 120 Hz in 4K and a Dual Mode, which switches to Full HD with 240 Hz for fast-paced shooters. The USB-C versions feature two HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, two USB-A ports, and a jack, with Xiaomi also promising factory calibration and DisplayHDR 400 certification for them.

Czech Republic Still Looking Over the Fence

In our country, the A27Ui is available among Xiaomi’s 4K monitors. It also features USB-C with 90W charging and factory calibration, but only 60 Hz and costs 6,999 CZK on Alza. For a similar amount after discount, a Chinese customer gets the 120 Hz version, or a model without USB-C for less than four thousand.

Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether it will export the new products outside of China. Earlier Redmi monitors did reach the global market, but usually under a different name. If this happens again, a 120Hz 4K panel with USB-C has a good chance of arriving here as well, albeit with a European surcharge.

Would you take a 4K 120 Hz monitor at such a price, or is a 60Hz model sufficient for you?
