Two displays and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 for four thousand! Retroid introduced one of this year's most interesting consoles

Barely had Retroid launched the pair of Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite handheld consoles, it’s adding a third one. The manufacturer states that the Pocket Duo Lite Plus was created based on customer feedback and is positioned exactly between the two existing models.

Same body, different heart

Visually, the new model does not differ from the Lite model at all. The significant change is hidden inside: instead of the Dragonwing QCS6125 chip, which is an industrial equivalent of the older Snapdragon 665, the Dragonwing Q-7790, derived from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, is at work here. This is the same processor that powers the more expensive Pocket Duo — and the performance difference is abysmal, as the original chip dates back to 2019.

The console received 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in a single configuration, while the Lite model is sold with four or six gigabytes. There are also minor additions worth mentioning: 27 W charging, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, DisplayPort output capable of 4K at 60 Hz, and Android 16 right out of the box.

A discount with a deadline

The regular price is 219 dollars, which is approximately 4,600 Czech crowns. However, Retroid traditionally offers an introductory discount — with the code LITEPLUS, the amount drops to 199 dollars (roughly 4,200 Czech crowns) and is valid until October 31st. Pre-orders can be placed now in five color variants, and the console will start shipping in mid-November.

For comparison: with the discount, the new model will be only ten dollars more expensive than the Pocket Flip 2 console with 12 GB of RAM, which recently permanently dropped to 189 dollars. While it offers more memory and an AMOLED display, the Pocket Duo Lite Plus has a more power-efficient processor, two displays, a larger battery, and a newer system.
