Xiaomi focused mainly on durability with the new power bank. Its 20,000mAh cell will not ignite even after being punctured by a nail.

Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 67W Power Bank 20000 (Integrated Cable) 2027 on its global website, an updated version of last year’s model with a cable directly integrated into the body. Externally, the new Xiaomi power bank has barely changed, but inside it hides a battery that the manufacturer subjected to significantly stricter safety tests.

Battery withstands nails, 14 kN pressure, and 135 °C temperature

Xiaomi promises that a single battery cell will not ignite or explode, even if punctured by a 4 mm diameter nail. Other tests yielded similar results: the battery withstood compression force of 14 kN, an hour in a chamber at 135 °C, and overcharging with 1.3 times the voltage. According to the manufacturer’s comparison, last year’s model could only withstand 7 kN, half an hour at 130 °C, and 1.06 times overvoltage, and did not undergo the nail puncture test at all.

The power bank also newly passed a check to ensure that no metallic lithium accumulates in the battery even after 300 charging cycles. This can eventually cause a short circuit inside the cell. The new model has a total of 16 protective functions, while its predecessor offered nine.

It is probably no coincidence that Xiaomi boasts all these figures. China is introducing its first mandatory standard for power banks from April 1, 2027, which adds the puncture test, lithium control, and cell traceability, as stated by the Chinese institute CAICT. Xiaomi does not explicitly mention the standard on its global website, but its tests comply with it.

You can check the status of each cell on your computer

The second new feature is smart battery management. After connecting to a computer, you will see traceable data for each cell, charging progress, and records of unusual situations. However, you won’t enter data mode entirely intuitively: you need to press the button eight times consecutively and use a separate USB-C port, as the integrated cable does not transfer data.

67 W power and three ports remain

The rest of the features remained the same as its predecessor, whose arrival in the Czech Republic we reported on in January. Inside are three 6,700 mAh cells, which corresponds to approximately 20,000 mAh, and with 74.37 Wh of energy, the power bank fits under the aviation limit of 100 Wh. The integrated cable can handle up to 67 W output for compatible Xiaomi phones. According to the manufacturer, it charges the Xiaomi 17 Ultra to 51% in half an hour. The power bank itself recharges with the same cable at 65 W input, from zero to half in 55 minutes.

Next to the cable, you’ll find one more USB-C and one USB-A port, so you can charge three devices simultaneously. In such a case, however, the total output drops to 15 W. The cable snaps into a groove in the body and serves as a loop. The dimensions of 140 × 72 × 31.2 mm and weight of 415 g have not changed.

Czech price still missing

Xiaomi has not yet announced the price or availability date for the Czech Republic. According to Notebookcheck, the new product has been on sale in China for over two months and costs approximately 800 CZK (169 ringgit) in Malaysia. For those who don’t want to wait, last year’s version can be purchased for 1,149 CZK. It does not lag behind the new model in terms of capacity or performance; it only lacks the stricter battery tests.

When choosing a power bank, do you also consider how durable its battery is?
