Alza brings three powerful chargers with a color display! One of them has another interesting feature

A charger no longer has to be just a silent box in the socket. Alza has introduced a new series where the main attraction is the screen: AlzaPower Ultimate D GaN chargers with a color TFT display will show you directly on the device how much power you are currently charging with. Why the new chargers are interesting

The entire AlzaPower Ultimate D series is based on modern GaN (gallium nitride) technology, which, compared to classic silicon, allows for high performance in a small and light body with lower heat generation. In practice, this means a charger that can handle a laptop but doesn’t take up as much space in a backpack as older models. All three units can charge multiple devices simultaneously and come with a three-year warranty.

The main difference from common competitors, however, is the color TFT display, which makes the charger a bit of a smart helper. It is precisely why you should choose this series, so let’s take a closer look at it.

What the TFT display shows

The display reacts to what is currently happening with the charger. After plugging into the socket, it first shows the maximum supported power, so you immediately know what you’re dealing with. When not charging anything, it switches to power-saving mode with a sleeping character animation, which is a nice detail, but most importantly, it saves energy.

Once you connect a device, it shows the current charging power of individual ports in watts, so you can tell at a glance if your phone is charging at full speed. A touch button then lets you switch between other data: total charging power, internal charger temperature, and usage time. There are also over-temperature warnings and automatic protection, which interrupts charging if a safe limit is exceeded. For more technically inclined users, this is exactly the kind of feedback that is missing from a regular charger.

Three models at a glance

The series offers three variants that differ in ports, performance, and price. The most affordable D450 for 1,099 CZK relies on a pair of USB-C ports, the mid-range D460 for 1,299 CZK adds a practical retractable USB-C cable, and the most powerful D500 for 1,499 CZK targets more demanding laptops with up to 100 W of power.

Performance and charging explained simply

All models support a wide range of fast charging standards including Power Delivery with PPS, Qualcomm Quick Charge, Samsung, and Apple, so they can handle virtually any phone, tablet, or laptop. Power distribution is handled by a Smart IC chip that automatically recognizes connected devices, and safety is ensured by 4Safe protections against overload, short circuit, overheating, and overvoltage, along with a body made of non-flammable material.

One thing, however, needs to be understood correctly: the stated 70 W (D450/D460) and 100 W (D500) is the peak power per single port. When charging multiple devices simultaneously, the total power drops to 60 W and 95 W respectively and is distributed among the ports. This is common for these chargers, but it’s fair to consider if you want to simultaneously power a powerful laptop and a phone. Additionally, the top-tier D500 is the only one to offer Power Delivery 3.2 with AVS technology for more efficient charging, but only on the first USB-C port.

What to watch out for

In addition to the aforementioned power drop when connecting multiple devices, it’s good to know that D450 and D500 are supplied without a cable — so you’ll need to use your own or purchase one. The exception is the D460, which has a retractable USB-C cable (60 cm) integrated directly into its body, which is its main advantage besides the display. If you don’t want to deal with cables, the D460 is a logical choice despite its slightly higher price. Furthermore, when connecting or disconnecting a device, charging may briefly interrupt due to power redistribution.

When it doesn’t make sense

If you are charging only one phone and don’t need laptop power, this series is too well-equipped, and a cheaper single-port charger will suffice. Similarly, if you don’t care about the display or power overview, you’re paying for a feature you won’t use, and a cheaper GaN charger without a screen would be more suitable. And whoever needs full power for multiple devices at once should be aware that the total power is lower than the sum of the peak values of the ports.

Verdict: which model for whom

The new AlzaPower Ultimate D series offers an excellent way to keep charging under control thanks to its display, with GaN technology adding compact dimensions. The D450 for 1,099 CZK is a reasonable base for a phone and tablet, the D460 for 1,299 CZK makes the most sense due to its integrated retractable cable, which you’ll appreciate most on the go, and the D500 for 1,499 CZK is the choice for anyone charging a powerful laptop and wanting up to 100 W and Power Delivery 3.2. Those who don’t need a display or higher power will save money with a simpler charger, but for others, it’s a welcome new product with a three-year warranty.
