Aqara outdoor camera dropped below CZK 800. It stores recordings even without a subscription

Who walked past the entrance and what happened on the terrace when you weren’t home? The Aqara G100 Select can capture it on its own memory card, without a monthly payment for cloud storage. The black camera now costs CZK 794 without a code on Alza. For less than eight hundred crowns, you get 2K image, night vision, and connectivity with popular smart home systems.

Footage stays at home, you can also get the image into Home Assistant

A microSD card up to 512 GB can be inserted into the slot for continuous recording. If you need to review events before a visitor arrives, you are not limited to individual motion alerts. The camera also supports backup to a home NAS. Paid cloud storage remains another option, but local recording is not conditional on it.

You will be alerted to a person in front of the camera by local person detection on your phone. Recognition of specific faces, cars, animals, or packages is part of the paid HomeGuardian service. You can speak directly with visitors via the built-in microphone and speaker.

Aqara does not have to be an isolated device with another separate application. It supports Google Home, Apple Home including HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa, and SmartThings. For Home Assistant, RTSP is important, through which you can get the camera’s image into it. It connects to the home network via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

At night, you can choose between infrared and white light

The 2304 × 1296 pixel resolution is complemented by a wide, 140-degree diagonal field of view. After dark, the camera can record in black and white using infrared illumination. For a color image, it turns on white light, which is useful, for example, at entrance doors; however, be aware that it then visibly illuminates the area.

IP65 rating allows outdoor use, the manufacturer states an operating temperature of −10 to +40 °C. Therefore, before installation, choose a location with Wi-Fi coverage and the possibility to run a cable. A USB adapter with an output of at least 5 V / 1 A is sufficient for power; screws for mounting the camera to the wall are included in the package.
