JBL Pulse 6 looks like a camping lamp and even serves as one. It plays music and illuminates the space around you

The JBL Pulse 6 speaker expands the brand’s illuminated series and at first glance looks more like a camping lamp than a speaker. Its transparent cylindrical body lights up with a colorful 360° light show – and after dark, you can even turn it into a regular night light.

Light plays the primary role here

The entire body of the Pulse 6 is covered by a translucent casing, beneath which a 360-degree LED system is hidden. This system either synchronizes with the music automatically, or you can choose from sixteen light profiles – from lively party animations to calm ambient settings. The manufacturer also illuminated the handle, so the glow extends beyond the speaker itself, making it look more like a lamp.

The most interesting thing is that the light works even without music. When you double-tap the speaker, it lights up like a regular lamp – you can adjust the brightness with the volume buttons and set the color temperature in the JBL One app. For bedtime, there’s Sunset Mode: you set a countdown for up to an hour, and the light, along with the sound, gradually dims into a warm orange glow.

Sound and durability: what JBL Pulse 6 offers

In terms of sound, the brand opted for a pair of transducers with a total output of 40 W (30W bass and 10W treble). The AI Sound Boost feature takes care of loudness, which, according to the manufacturer, analyzes music in real-time and ensures that the sound doesn’t distort even when turned up to maximum – however, how the Pulse 6 actually handles bass will only be revealed by testing.

The new model has switched to Bluetooth 6.0, and it also features USB-C with higher quality audio thanks to a built-in DAC converter. Durability is handled by IP68 certification, meaning the speaker can withstand dust and immersion in water. On a single charge, it plays for up to 12 hours, and the Playtime Boost feature adds another two.

When more people arrive, you can connect Pulse 6 via Auracast with other JBL speakers, including the PartyBox series – then both the music and the light show run on all of them simultaneously.

Price and availability

Abroad, the Pulse 6 is sold for 329.95 dollars, which is approximately 7,800 CZK when converted, and shipments will begin on September 6. According to available information, it is expected to arrive in the Czech Republic by the end of the year; JBL has not yet specified the exact CZK price or distributor.
