Magnetic chargers, car holders, or wallets that snap onto the back of a phone have long been enjoyed mainly by iPhone owners. Android is catching up slowly, and most phones still rely on a cover with magnets that you have to buy separately. The Motorola Edge 70 Max has magnets directly in its body and is now heading to the Czech market. Alza is already offering it for pre-order for just under 20 thousand CZK.

Magnets are directly in the phone, no cover needed

Motorola promises 25W Qi2 standard wireless magnetic charging. Qi2 certified chargers, stands, or car holders will attach themselves to the phone and always in the correct position.

Among competing models, we find magnets in the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 11 series, and the older HMD Skyline. Samsung, for its Galaxy phones, chooses the “Qi2 Ready” path: the phone can charge according to the Qi2 standard, but the magnets are provided by a protective cover.

7,100 mAh battery and 90W wired charging

Inside is a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 7,100 mAh, which, according to the manufacturer, lasts up to 73 hours of operation. The phone charges at 90W via cable, and Motorola claims that in six minutes, you can replenish enough power for a whole day. However, you won’t find an adapter in the package.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and display with brightness up to 7,000 nits

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip with a clock speed of up to 3.8 GHz. It is complemented by 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The AMOLED display has a diagonal of 6.82 inches, a resolution of 3,168 × 1,440 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits.

The main camera relies on a 50Mpx Sony LYT-710 sensor, complemented by an 8Mpx ultrawide lens and a 32Mpx selfie camera on the front. Durability corresponds to IP68 and IP69 ratings, the construction consists of aerospace-grade aluminum and Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone weighs 221 grams with a thickness of 8.29 mm.

It runs on Android 16 out of the box. According to Notebookcheck, Motorola has confirmed three major system updates and five years of security patches.

Release date unknown yet

The Motorola Edge 70 Max costs 19,999 CZK on Alza at the time of writing, available in both Pantone Dark Shadow black and Pantone Ice Melt blue. Both variants are currently on pre-order, and the store will specify the delivery date later.

Would you charge your phone magnetically, or stick with a cable?
