Anyone who keeps their mobile phone on their bedside table as an alarm clock reaches for it almost automatically in the evening and in the morning. The Swedish brand now offers an alternative: the STENGRÖNSKA alarm clock takes on the role of both a clock and an alarm, and wirelessly charges your phone overnight.

Alarm Clock Charges Mobile and Measures Temperature and Humidity

The display shows the time in 12- or 24-hour format, date, and day of the week. In the bottom right corner, it adds temperature and air humidity from built-in sensors, so you know right after waking up if your bedroom is too hot or too dry. The display backlight has three levels, and you can read it even in the dark.

The alarm clock offers up to three different alarm times and six volume levels, to wake even the heaviest sleepers. IKEA itself advises setting one time for waking up, a second as a reminder to leave for work, and a third as a signal that it’s time to go to bed. A nine-minute snooze function is also included.

The main attraction, however, is the top surface, which functions as a wireless charger – you place your phone on it, and a charging icon lights up on the display. In the WPC database, as noted by Notebookcheck, it is listed as a Qi 2.1 standard charger with 15 W power, in the EPP profile. Unlike full Qi2, this profile does not include magnets.

On the back, you’ll also find a USB-C port for charging a second device, such as a watch or headphones. The alarm clock itself is powered by the included USB-C cable, and the manufacturer recommends an adapter of at least 30 W. Additionally, under the bottom edges, there’s an LED strip that gently illuminates the table surface with three brightness levels. Two AAA batteries (sold separately) serve only as a backup for settings during a power outage; the alarm clock will not run on them.

Wireless Charging Can Also Be a Disadvantage

On the product page, IKEA itself warns that the alarm clock heats up during wireless charging, and this may temporarily distort the temperature reading on the display. In practice, this means that at night, when a phone is placed on it, the thermometer may not show the actual room temperature. If you place an object on the surface that cannot be charged, both the icon and the LED strip will flash – according to the manufacturer, such an object needs to be removed to prevent overheating.

How Much Does the Alarm Clock Cost and When Will It Arrive Here?

STENGRÖNSKA is currently sold only in Japan and China. Japanese IKEA asks for 4,999 yen, which is approximately 690 Czech crowns (converted), while in China it costs 199 yuan (about 650 CZK). Whether and when it will come to Europe has not yet been announced by the manufacturer, and the Czech e-shop does not have the alarm clock in its offer.

Anyone who wants an alarm clock with a thermometer and hygrometer right away can find the RÖDSTRÄFSE for 249 CZK in the Czech offer. However, it will not charge your phone.

Would you swap your mobile phone on the bedside table for a classic alarm clock?
