In my recently published Galaxy Z Flip8 review, I wrote that at full price, I would rather buy the older seven or wait for a proper discount. That has now arrived, and not just for the clamshell. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 costs exactly 27,192 CZK with code ALZADNY15 instead of 31,990 CZK, and the same 15% off applies to both book-style foldables. We’ve held all three new models in our hands here at the editorial office, so let’s go through them one by one.

Galaxy Z Flip8: the thinnest clamshell I advised waiting for

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is the thinnest and lightest clamshell Samsung has ever built. It weighs 180 grams, measures 6.1 mm when unfolded, and feels almost like a razor blade in hand. The rear 4.1″ FlexWindow is bright, runs at 120 Hz, and can run practically any application. In the review, I gave it 75 out of 100 points, and my reservation was directed elsewhere than at the design.

Hardware-wise, the Flip8 is almost identical to its predecessor. While it received a new Exynos 2600 chip, the battery remained at 4,300 mAh and charging at a slow 25 W, the telephoto lens is missing, and innovations compared to the seven are few and far between. At the full price of 31,990 CZK, I therefore advised waiting for a discount, and that’s exactly what 27,192 CZK with code ALZADNY15 is now. On Alza, the clamshell currently has a full 5.0 out of 5, but there are only thirteen reviewers so far.

Galaxy Z Fold8: the lightest Fold that Samsung can’t keep up with manufacturing

However, there are compromises: the telephoto lens is missing, durability is limited to IP48, and the phone noticeably heats up during extended gaming. The regular price of 48,990 CZK is high, making 41,642 CZK with code ALZADNY15, which is 7,348 CZK less, all the more interesting now. It’s still an expensive phone, but you won’t find a shape that changes how you use your mobile elsewhere.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: a refined flagship with a telephoto lens

Dražší Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra drží klasický čtvercový tvar a je to skládačka pro toho, kdo od telefonu za padesát tisíc čeká kompletní výbavu. Osmipalcový vnitřní displej má nově antireflexní úpravu, hlavní snímač nabízí 200 Mpx a jako jediná z trojice má i teleobjektiv se 3× přiblížením. Baterie 5 000 mAh vydrží podle naší recenze klidně dva dny a lepší chlazení drží výkon i při delší zátěži. Od redakce si odnesl nejvyšší známku 93 ze 100 bodů.

It’s not a huge leap from last year’s generation, but rather a successful facelift that fine-tuned what bothered owners. The camera with optical zoom in low light and the very prominent camera module remain weaknesses. For this version with 512GB storage, Alza normally charges 58,990 CZK, but with code ALZADNY15, it drops to 50,142 CZK, which is 8,848 CZK less. The rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 34 customers so far aligns with our impression that it is the most refined foldable on the market.

Which of the trio to choose

The decision ultimately comes down to what you want from a foldable. The Flip8 for 27,192 CZK is the choice for style, and whoever prioritizes appearance and compactness will opt for it. The Fold8 for 41,642 CZK is, in my opinion, the most sensible purchase of the trio thanks to its new shape, lower weight, and 4:3 aspect ratio for both video and reading. And the Fold8 Ultra for 50,142 CZK makes sense for those who want a telephoto lens, the largest display, and maximum productivity and photography capabilities. Whatever you choose, the ALZADNY15 code applies equally to all three.
