The EZVIZ H8C Pro rotating camera has gone crazy cheap! It's well-rated and offers amazing features for 1,099 CZK

It gets dark before five, so the driveway, yard, and gate are plunged into darkness for long hours. Anyone who wants to keep an eye on them from the couch doesn’t have to spend two thousand on an outdoor camera. The EZVIZ H8C Pro rotating camera costs 1,099 CZK instead of 1,999 CZK on Alza at the time of writing, making it almost half price. It has never been available at a better price.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense if you want to alternately monitor the driveway, yard, and gate with one camera and have an outlet nearby on the facade.
⚠️ Consider that it only connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or via cable, and you can’t set it up without the EZVIZ app.
💡 At 1,099 CZK, it’s the cheapest it’s been in the last year; it usually costs 1,999 CZK and 1,399 to 1,499 CZK during sales.

At 1,099 CZK, the H8C Pro is the cheapest it’s been in the last year

According to HlídačShopů, the camera cost 1,999 CZK for roughly half the time over the past twelve months. In the meantime, Alza discounted it several times to 1,399 to 1,499 CZK, and last Black Friday, it was 1,299 CZK. However, it never dropped to the current 1,099 CZK. Furthermore, before the sale, it remained at full price for five weeks, and Alza also states the same amount as the lowest price for 30 days before the promotion. Therefore, the 900 CZK discount, or 45%, is genuine.

It rotates 350 degrees and follows people

The camera records at a resolution of 2,880 × 1,620 pixels, which the manufacturer calls 3K. Although Alza sells it as 5MP, it is actually approximately 4.7 Mpx. The lens has a 91-degree field of view, but the motor rotates the entire head 350 degrees horizontally and 80 degrees vertically. From the corner of the house, it can monitor both the driveway and the garden, but it only sees the segment it is currently looking at. When it turns to follow a person, it does not monitor the rest of the property at that moment. Additionally, you can save up to 12 favorite positions in the app, such as the gate, garage, or terrace, and the camera will turn to them with a single tap.

The software recognizes people and cars, so it shouldn’t wake you up with every movement of branches. According to the manufacturer, this works even without a subscription. When it detects a person, it automatically rotates to follow them and zooms in. However, the lens has a fixed focal length, so the zoom is digital. In the dark, it offers three modes: color night vision up to 20 meters thanks to two supplementary lights, black-and-white infrared up to 30 meters, or a smart mode that turns on the lights only when the camera detects a person. For uninvited guests, it can activate a siren and flash lights (but they don’t flash in color night mode), and you can also speak through its built-in microphone and speaker.

It needs an outlet and only works via the EZVIZ app

Before ordering the camera, consider where you will mount it. It does not have a battery and is powered by an adapter from an outlet, so the cable must reach the mounting location. In case of a power outage, the camera will stop recording. It connects to the internet via Wi-Fi, but only on the 2.4 GHz band. Where the signal does not reach, an Ethernet port can be used.

Setup and recording playback are handled by the EZVIZ app for Android and iOS, which is also available in Czech. The manufacturer only lists its own cloud protocol in the specifications and does not mention ONVIF or RTSP standards for connecting to a home recorder or Home Assistant. Recordings are saved to a microSD card up to 512 GB, which you must purchase separately, or to the EZVIZ CloudPlay cloud, which is subscription-based. The manufacturer does not specify a particular IP rating for durability, only promising operation in all weather conditions and temperatures from −30 to 50 °C. And when installing, also consider your neighbors: a camera that covers a street or another person’s property may conflict with data protection regulations.

Customers praise night image, but the camera doesn’t track dogs

The product page, which Alza shares with other variants of the H8C series, has an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 147 customers, and 90% of them would recommend the camera. The return rate is low, at 0.9%. Reviews specifically for the Pro 5MP version praise the high-quality image even at night, the clear app, the wide range of rotation, and easy camera sharing with another household member.

However, one customer complains that the camera does not track dogs, and according to EZVIZ support, this model is not designed to do so. Another reported false alarms in wind and fog, and according to them, the detection sensitivity could not be changed; another customer’s 512GB card did not work.

It pays off for homeowners who want to monitor their driveway with a car

It is especially worthwhile for homeowners who want to alternately monitor their driveway with a car, gate, and garden with a single camera and have a power supply on the facade or under a shelter. For 1,099 CZK, you get a rotating camera with human tracking, which was usually hundreds of crowns more expensive over the past year.

If you don’t have an outlet nearby, a battery-powered camera, such as the EZVIZ with a solar panel, would be better. It should also be considered by anyone who wants to send video to their own recording device – the manufacturer does not state support for ONVIF and RTSP standards. And it is not suitable at all for tracking pets.
