Redmi Note 17 goes on sale. We remind you of the prices and what you get for them

Czech customers could pre-order the Redmi Note 17 series as early as September 10. Today, Xiaomi officially launched it for Central and Eastern Europe at an event in Budapest’s Várkert Bazár. For Czech customers, this means two things: pre-orders end today and at midnight, September 17, regular sales begin for all four models.

Battery first and foremost

Leading the series is the very first Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G. Its main selling point is a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 9,210 mAh, the largest Xiaomi has ever put into a phone for the European market. It is complemented by 100W charging and 27W reverse charging, so the phone can also serve as a power bank. According to the manufacturer’s measurements, it should last up to three days, and twenty minutes at the outlet is said to be enough for a full day of operation. The Note 17 Pro received 8,340 mAh and 67 W, while the pair of cheapest models both have 7,700 mAh and 45 W.

Xiaomi guarantees that for the entire series, the battery will retain at least 80% of its original capacity even after one thousand charging cycles, which, according to its calculations, corresponds to approximately six years of normal use. The series is also expected to receive security updates for the same period. The figures come from the manufacturer’s internal laboratories but are also confirmed by the five-star TÜV SÜD Battery Performance certification, which the Note 17 5G and Note 17 models received.

Certificates, not just slogans

The second pillar of the series is durability. Xiaomi packaged it under the name Redmi Titan Quality, but this time it didn’t stop at just a marketing label. Both Pro models have five-star TÜV SÜD Titan Quality certification and, according to the manufacturer, are the first on the market in this regard. They meet IP66 and IP68 ratings; in the IPX8 test, they lasted two hours… more precisely, two meters underwater for 72 hours, and SGS certification confirms a three-meter drop onto granite. Of course, the warranty does not cover liquid damage.

The displays of the Pro models measure 6.83 inches, offer 1.5K resolution, and a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. The cheaper pair has a larger 6.99-inch Full HD+ panel with 1,800 nits brightness, IP65 rating, and is the only one in the series with a memory card slot. The Pro Max’s performance is handled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, a mid-range chip that supports up to 24 GB of RAM via the Memory Extension feature. Xiaomi HyperAI, Google Gemini, and Circle to Search will also be present.

On the other hand, it’s clear where costs were cut with the cameras. All models feature a 50Mpx main sensor, but only the Pro Max can handle 4K video, and even that only at 30 frames per second. The remaining trio, including the nine-thousand-crown Note 17 Pro, must settle for Full HD. A 32 Mpx selfie camera was again only given to the top model; the others have 16 Mpx.

How much the phones cost

The Pro Max is sold in Black, Green, and Cloud Blush, where the latter changes its shade from white to pink-orange in the sun. The Note 17 Pro comes in Black, Sky Blue, and Purple, while the cheaper pair both come in Black, Sky Teal, and Celestial Purple. Additionally, introductory discount codes worth 700 to 2,000 CZK and a gift for a published review are still valid until October 18.
