Battery capacity in Samsung’s top-tier lineup has remained virtually unchanged for years – the flagship Ultra model has been running on 5,000 mAh since the Galaxy S20 era. However, a fresh leak now suggests that the next generation will finally break this ceiling: the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra should get a noticeably larger battery than any of its predecessors.

How big will the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra’s battery be?

The figures were brought by the Dutch server GalaxyClub, which has long focused on Samsung leaks. According to them, the actual battery capacity will climb to 5,534 mAh – and since manufacturers usually state a slightly higher so-called typical value on the box, on paper we would most likely read around 5,700 to 5,800 mAh. Either way, it would be the first increase since the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Its sibling is also expected to get an upgrade. The model, which leaks refer to as the Galaxy S27 Pro, is said to offer an actual capacity of around 5,087 mAh instead of today’s 5,000 mAh. According to earlier speculation, Samsung is preparing four flagship models, so the usual “Plus” moniker will most likely be replaced by “Pro”.

Why has the capacity only changed now?

The key is a different type of cell. Instead of the usual lithium-ion battery, the company is expected to use a silicon-carbon battery, which packs more energy into the same space. It is thanks to this that the capacity can increase without the phone having to get thicker. Samsung first introduced this technology this summer in the foldable Galaxy Z Fold8.

For the cheaper members of the series, i.e., the base Galaxy S27 and its larger variant, the leaked database has not yet revealed the capacity. And the main point remains: all figures come only from a leak, and none of the phones have been officially introduced by the manufacturer yet. The new generation is expected early next year.

It still won’t be enough to beat Chinese competition

Even if the data is confirmed, it won’t be a world record. Chinese manufacturers today pack batteries of well over 7,000 mAh into flagship phones, so the Korean brand would still be playing it safe even after the upgrade. And since this is still just a leak, we won’t be able to independently verify the exact values – until Samsung officially reveals the new Galaxy, take these figures with a grain of salt.
