It might rain differently in your garden than at a weather station on the other side of town. Anyone who wants to monitor the weather directly at their home can now get the Sencor SWS 9898 WiFi for 1,749 CZK. Alza still offered it for 2,919 CZK on October 25th, so today’s discount is 1,170 CZK, approximately 40%. For this price, you get a color display and an outdoor sensor that measures wind and rainfall in addition to temperature.

Quick summary:
✅ Makes sense for: Garden or cottage owners who want to monitor local weather and view measurement history on their phone.
⚠️ Consider: For online connection, you need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The outdoor sensor also requires 3 AA batteries, which are not included.
💡 The offer is valid without a code or paid membership. The same model is now available for 1,749 CZK at Lékárna.cz, where it is listed as in stock with the supplier.

Rain by day, wind including gusts

The station sums rainfall by day, week, and month. In your own garden, you’ll find out how much water actually fell during the last dry week, and you can take that into account when watering. For wind, it distinguishes between gusts and average speed and shows its direction. The outdoor sensor is included in the package, so you don’t have to buy it separately for the station.

Sencor also offers a forecast for the next 12 to 24 hours, which it derives from changes in pressure and temperature. Consider it a local indicative estimate. The main benefit of this set is in measuring actual weather at home, for which the outdoor sensor needs a suitable location with free access to rain and airflow.

Graphs on your phone, a separate display at home

Via Wi-Fi, the station sends measured values to Weather Underground and Weathercloud services. In them, you can view current data and history from your phone, tablet, or laptop; Weathercloud offers graphs and statistics. This is practical, for example, at a cottage with internet: you can check the weather progression even during the week when you are at home. The base needs to be connected to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and set up to link with the selected service.

At home, you don’t need to pull out your phone every time you want to check the weather. The color 5.4-inch LCD display can be placed on a table or hung on a wall. Among other things, it shows indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, wind, and an ice warning. Brightness can be adjusted in three levels, so the base doesn’t have to unnecessarily illuminate the entire room at night.

Do you only monitor temperature in your garden, or do you also measure rain and wind?
