Xiaomi is preparing a new Pad 8S Pro tablet. The key is the chip, about which no one knows anything yet

Last June in China, Xiaomi introduced the Pad 7S Pro 12.5 tablet with its own Xring O1 chip, and this year it looks like the company will again rely on silicon from its own workshop. Chinese leaker Panda is Bald has published the first parameters of the successor – Pad 8S Pro – on Weibo, and the main novelty is expected to be the Xring O3 processor.

Display unchanged, battery slightly larger

According to the leak, the tablet is expected to get a 12.5-inch LCD panel with a resolution referred to as “3.2K” – practically the same diagonal and resolution as its predecessor. The main change is expected to be the battery capacity, which is set to increase from 10,610 mAh to 12,000 mAh, while the charging power remains at 120 W.

Xring O3: a chip about which no one knows anything yet

The processor itself is a more interesting question. Xiaomi has not officially revealed a single word about the Xring O3, but an earlier leak suggested significantly higher energy efficiency compared to the O1. And this base is certainly not bad – it is manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, has a deca-core CPU and a sixteen-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, achieving an average of around 2.5 million points in AnTuTu V10 tests on Notebookcheck. If the O3 truly only refines power consumption with comparable performance, it will be a reasonable step – but enthusiastic headlines about a “revolution” would be premature until the first real numbers emerge.

Cameras without surprises

The rest of the equipment doesn’t seem groundbreaking, rather a logical refinement. The front camera is expected to have a resolution of 32 Mpx, while the back is expected to feature a main 50 Mpx sensor and a second 2 Mpx sensor – a setup commonly found in tablets across various price categories today. Xiaomi remains silent on both the price and release date; the tablet currently only exists as a Chinese leak.

It should also be added that the Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro will most likely remain – just like the Pad 7S Pro – exclusive to the Chinese market, which is definitely a shame.
