Looking for a powerful gaming laptop and want the most raw power for your money? The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI now costs 40,491 CZK with code ALZADNY10. And it has one trump card that foreign reviews surprisingly criticized this model for – just in a different version.

Quick summary:
Great choice if you want the most gaming and work performance for your money and appreciate expandability – two RAM slots (up to 64 GB) and two drive slots.
⚠️ Keep in mind that the laptop does not have an operating system, weighs 2.7 kg with a 230W brick, the battery lasts only about 4.5 hours, and the graphics card’s video memory is 8 GB.
💡 For 40,491 CZK with code ALZADNY10 you get more raw performance than with thin 14″ machines for the same money.

Matte display that bypasses famous criticism

Here’s an interesting twist. Foreign reviews praised this Predator for its performance but tore down its OLED display – reportedly one of the glossiest they had ever measured, plus flickering (PWM) that causes eye fatigue. However, this particular version does not have OLED: it received a matte IPS panel with 2.5K resolution (2560 × 1600), 240 Hz, and 500 nits brightness, covering 100% DCI-P3. In other words, it avoids precisely the two things reviewers complained about – reflections and flickering. Under the hood is a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, one of the most powerful mobile processors, and RTX 5070 graphics with a 115W limit, meaning more power than in thin ultrabooks with the same card. For similar money, the cheapest models with RTX 5070 Ti can be found, but they will have a less powerful processor. It is complemented by 32 GB DDR5 and a 1TB SSD. A big plus compared to slim competitors is expandability: two memory slots (up to 64 GB) and two M.2 slots, so you can easily add RAM and a drive later. It also features Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, 2.5 Gb/s Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, a full-sized numeric keypad, and RGB backlighting.

What you’re getting into

However, there are a few things you need to accept. The laptop is sold without an operating system, so you either have your own Windows license, buy one, or choose Linux. With its 2.7 kg and 230W brick, the body is quite a chunk – it’s not very suitable for travel, and it cannot be charged via USB-C. The battery lasts only about 4.5 hours, so you won’t get far without a power outlet. The graphics card has 8GB of video memory, which might not be enough for the highest details with ray tracing in the future, and the processor climbs above 90 °C under full load, which also corresponds to the fan noise. And like most gaming machines, it lacks a webcam cover.

As a portable travel companion, the Predator doesn’t stand up, but nobody expects it to. However, as a powerful gaming and work center that you can easily upgrade and that doesn’t strain your eyes with a glossy OLED, it’s a compelling offer for 40,491 CZK.

Would you bet on performance and expandability, or would you prefer a light and thin body?
